1. Are Volunteers Needed? Yes! The Pet Food Pantry program is currently accepting new volunteers. 2. Program Description and Goals Program Description: The Pet Food Pantry at Pasadena Humane provides pet food and supplies to community members in need. Volunteers distribute food to clients, package and label pet food, and collect donations. Each shift may involve a mix of these tasks depending on daily needs. Goals: 🐾 Help keep pets with their families by providing pet food and supplies. 🐾 Support community needs by being welcoming and respectful of people seeking assistance. 🐾 Efficiently distribute pet food and other pet items to the community. 🐾 Assist maintaining shelter resources by organizing donations to keep the pantry stocked. 🐾 Promote Outreach & awareness by educating the public about the Pet Food Pantry. 3. How Does this Program Help the Shelter? A core component of the shelter's vision is that "companion animals reside in loving homes." Our Pet Food Pantry is an essential need for pet owners facing financial hardship. By providing pet food and supplies, families will be able to keep their beloved pets at home and out of shelters. 4. Position Outline 🐾 First-time volunteers will meet in the Volunteer Services office to sign in and be walked down to the Pet Food Pantry area. 🐾 Shifts are currently being offered 7 days a week, 2 shifts per day. 🐾 Volunteers will work with the pet owners to see what items they need in the short term. 5. Skills & Requirements Skills: 🐾 Communication: Ability to interact with pet owners, volunteers, and staff in a professional manner. 🐾 Organization & Attention to Detail: Ensure food and supplies are sorted, labeled, and distributed correctly. 🐾 Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move bags of pet food (typically 10-40 lbs.), stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions, if outdoors. 🐾 Problem-Solving: Quickly adapt to changes, resolve minor issues, and ensure a smooth distribution process. 🐾 Teamwork & Dependability: Work well with others, follow instructions, and show up on time to scheduled shifts. 🐾 Compassion: Understand the challenges pet owners may face and treat everyone with respect. Requirements: 🐾 Minimum Age: 18 years of age and older 🐾 Commitment to a Regular, Full Shift: Program success entails consistency in volunteering, ability to arrive on time and remaining the duration of the shift. 🐾 Ability to Lift and Carry Supplies: Being comfortable with moderate physical work. 🐾 Willingness to Follow Shelter Guidelines: Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and operational protocols. 6.
