PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Humane Education Team seeks help with its Youth programming and Scout Programs. Humane Education plays a critical role at Pasadena Humane by helping further develop the fostering of empathy and compassion, promoting responsible pet ownership, and addressing broader animal welfare issues. Humane Education programs aim to educate the youth in our community on the workings of the shelter and animal welfare in general. These programs are offered to kids ages 7-14 years of age. DUTIES: Assist Humane Education Team with kids' programming. HOW LONG: Shifts range from 2 hours - 3.5 hours. - This program takes place in the upstairs Classroom (Building #6 on the Shelter Map) - Please make a note in the comments section if this is your first shift! :) -PROGRAMS OFFERED: 1. Kids For Animals Club (ages 7-11) - Tuesdays: Engaging after school program that fosters empathy and responsible pet ownership, along with a behind-the-scenes look at shelter operations. 2. Jr. Volunteers (ages 12-14) - Wednesdays: After school program with opportunities for older children to learn about animal welfare and assist with shelter activities, promoting leadership and responsibility. 3. Scout Programs - Alternate Sundays & Thursdays: Scout programs fulfill girl scout and boy scout badge requirements or the option to choose the Pasadena Humane Experience. Scouts are taken on a shelter tour and work on a service activity. 4. One-Day Workshops - Alternate Thursdays: One-day workshops that provide hands-on experiences in different topics of animal care and welfare. 5. Party Animals! Birthday Experience - Alternate Sundays: Unique birthday celebration experience that includes making animal enrichment toys and a shelter tour.
